When mothers achieve a milestone with their babies, it becomes a shining moment that is remembered and celebrated by fellow moms. It could be as simple as finding a hack to get the baby to happily eat a nutritious snack, developing a trick to make the little one less fussy during bath time, or finding the perfect affordable diaper that greatly improves the baby’s protection and comfort. When a mom discovers any of these baby care hacks, fellow moms are quick to cheer her on with the words, “Ikaw na!”
This is the same expression of support that award-winning actress and in-demand host Dimples Romana wants to share with fellow moms of toddlers. As a mother of three, with her youngest, Elio, still a toddler, Dimples wants only the best for her kids so that they can have the freedom to move and be themselves.
New EQ Pants endorser Dimples Romana with Karl Po, Chief Operating Officer and Samuel Po, Chief Executive Officer of JS Unitrade Merchandise Inc.
Dimples and Elio have been selected as brand ambassadors for JS Unitrade’s leading brand, EQ Pants, a highly trusted diaper brand in the country. The new TV commercial (TVC) for EQ Pants, featuring Dimples and her son Elio, is now being aired during primetime TV.
“This is a beautiful milestone for me and my family because this is Elio’s first brand family,” Dimples exclaimed during her recent launch as the new endorser during the JS Unitrade Merchandise Inc., National Conference 2024.
“Whatever brand family we represent, that means we share the same values. So as soon as we found out about EQ Pants and the way they produce quality diapers while making them affordable and approachable for the Filipino family, of course, I had to say yes.”
In the new EQ Pants TVC, Dimples and the moms discuss the features of EQ Pants, emphasizing its new Bubble Top Sheet that reduces contact with the baby’s skin, helping prevent rashes. They highlight EQ Pants for its affordability and quality, with Dimples showcasing her baby using the product. The commercial concludes with Dimples inviting viewers to choose EQ with the tagline, “Ikaw na!” or, more fittingly, “EQaw na!”

Like Dimples, moms can also have peace of mind with EQ Pants, which delivers the best diaper quality. Aside from the new feature, the Bubble Top Sheet, EQ Pants also feature a Soft Cottony Cover with a front-to-back Snug Fit to ensure a comfortable fit on the move, while its Super Absorbent Core keeps baby dry by drawing away urine.
Thanks to these mommy-and-baby-friendly features, Dimples has more time to do other important tasks. She shared, “The best thing about the EQ Pants is that Elio doesn’t have to change his diaper often, which gives me a lot of time for more important things like bonding with my family.”

With Dimples and her fellow moms in mind, Michelle Acuña, JS Unitrade Marketing Director, said, “We understand the struggles and worries of moms when it comes to the comfort and protection of their babies or toddlers. EQ Pants is carefully designed with that in mind so mom and baby can feel at ease knowing that their baby can happily move around without worries of rashes or leakage for long hours.”

Cebuana Lhuillier, one of the Philippines’ leading and largest micro-financial service providers and a champion in financial inclusivity and mobility, recently launched its new insurance product for dogs.
The Philippines has one of the highest dog populations in the world with 11.6 Million as of 2020. Furthermore, the Philippines have the highest rate of pet ownership among the Southeast Asian countries at 83%, led by dogs at 67%. In the course of the pandemic alone, Filipinos’ interest in owning pets grew 88% compared to 2019. With the continuous growth of the pet industry, a big chunk of this is limited to grooming, nutrition, and the like. With a limited option for health care, pet owners are constantly challenged financially in order to provide for the medical needs of their fur babies.
How it all began
cuddle time with my furbaby, Princess. #lhasaapso
Jean Henri Lhuillier, Cebuana Lhuillier CEO
This is the inspiration behind Cebuana Lhuillier’s Pet Insurance Basic, a microinsurance product especially made for fur babies which are expected to serve as a welcome respite for dog-owners saddled with large veterinary bills for checkups, procedures, and medical emergencies.
“Dogs have always been loyal life companions, so it’s only right that we take care of them, especially during their health emergencies. With responsible pet ownership in mind, Cebuano Lhuillier is proud to introduce a product that’s both accessible and affordable for many of our kababayans who would like to provide their pet dogs with the best care possible, regardless of breed. This highlights our company’s commitment -providing the most relevant and reasonably-priced financial products that respond according to their needs,” Cebuana Lhuillier CEO, Jean Henri Lhuiller said.
We can’t deny that dogs provide much-needed companionship, comfort, and happiness in the everyday lives of their owners. This unmistakable bond between pet and owner was further amplified by the more than two years of isolation among Pinoys, especially in the midst of the pandemic. In turn, pet owners are known to only provide the utmost love and care to these pets, whether in the form of pet food and accessories, veterinary consultation, and medicine.
What is included in the Pet Insurance Basic package?
Jonathan Batangan, First Vice President and Group Head Cebuana Lhuillier Insurance Brokers, Inc.
Pet Insurance Basic provides reimbursement from any veterinary treatment or confinement in a vet hospital in the event of an accident or disease, as well as burial assistance. Pet Insurance also offers a liability coverage feature for when the insured dog causes damage outside the owner’s home. Aside from that, owners are also insured for personal accidents for up to Php 25,000.00. For as low as P1,100.00 or P3.00/day, you can get all of these insurance benefits and features for one-year coverage.
“Being a responsible pet owner is a commitment to provide for their needs and it consists of more than simply feeding and playing with them. Part of responsible pet ownership is addressing their physical, social, emotional, and mental well-being for the remainder of the pet’s life. Our pet insurance aims to cover the risks that involved in owning dogs, not just to protect them but to protect pet owners as well.” Jonathan Batangan, First Vice President and Group Head Cebuana Lhuillier Insurance Brokers, Inc. added.
Where can I purchase pet insurance for my furbaby?
The introduction of Pet Insurance Basic is a part of Cebuana Lhuillier’s push on producing innovative products that answer to the needs of the general public, especially in their protection requirements. Make sure your pets are insured by shopping Pet Insurance Basic online through Shopee and Lazada and get your pets protected, anytime and anywhere.
Anyone who follows my personal account would know that when it comes to pictures I post I usually only have 3 subjects: food, my grandchild Star, and my furbaby Princess. This post is about the latter.
Princess is one pampered pooch.
Princess, Lhasa Apso
She drinks pet milk every morning and eats dog food at night. She goes on walks almost every day either with me or my mom.
Princess is a 7-year-old Lhasa Apso. The Lhasa Apso is often confused with the Shih Tzu as they look very similar. This is not unusual, really, as the Shih Tzu was supposedly bred from the mating of a Lhasa Apso and a Pekingese.
Because Princess is of the long-haired variety of dogs taking care of her hair can be challenging. Part of our daily routine is brushing several times a day which both my mom and I do with her. Because her hair tends to get tangled she often does not have the patience to sit through the entire process.
Whut?
During the summer we often have her hair cut really short (not shaved) so that she does not suffer from the heat and we don’t have to worry about brushing her so often.
This is important because in the summer she tends to jump into the tub filled with water to cool off and, that makes her daily grooming difficult.
Once a month I take her to the groomer for a bath, haircut, nail trimming, and ear cleaning. 3 out of those 4 I cannot do for her so I leave it to the professionals. For many years I have gone to three pet grooming places (in the area) on rotation and in each one Princess would react adversely even before we went in. I thought this weird because she loves bath time but chalked it up to an instinctive reaction.
One Fab Pooch
And then one day I saw this pet grooming salon at the corner of Scout Tobias and Gandia Streets in Quezon City. I’ve passed it many times and didn’t stop because they don’t have parking and their frontage (which is on Scout Tobias) is a Mabuhay Lane so I really couldn’t park without risking getting towed.
One Fab Pooch QC Reception Area photo was taken from a Google Maps contribution
Today, though, I woke up and decided that I was going to bring Princess to One Fab Pooch. I was just curious enough to try their service finally.
As we walked into the reception area, I noticed that Princess was calm. This was a first. I don’t know what it is but seeing her reaction put me at ease. The reception area is roomy enough and everything is white. I put Princess on that little ledge and she just sat down, weird. I put her on the floor to explore, and she walked around and then just sat by my feet, doubly weird. When one of the groomers came out to pick her up and to ask for my specifications she allowed him to carry her and even raised all four paws in that funny way and was just … chill, triple weird! But I went with it and was happy.
Princess’s journey from fuzzy to fab!
I waited at McDonald’s down the street and their receptionist, Monica sent me updates via Viber. Here is Princess’s fab experience.
Trimming her nails. It’s been three months since her last grooming so they’re pretty long.
Here they are trimming the fur on her feet. Good thing, too, as she sometimes slips when she steps on her fur.
Time to take a bath! Princess loves taking baths.
Blowdrying time. In the past, she HATED this part. I think it is the sound she hates. Most blowers are really loud. Theirs seems to be fairly quiet. Look at her cuddling her groomer, how sweet!
Look at her now, fully groomed … and with teal ribbons on her hair! Awwww, cuteness! She is definitely One Fab Pooch!
3-minute massage time. Look at her, so zen!

Personally, I found their rates reasonable but others may find it steep, especially if they recommend additional stuff like severe detangling if your furbaby’s fur is very matted. To sweeten the deal, though, they also offer discounts via the VIPooch card.
VIPooch
The VIPooch card gives us furparents (and fur-guardians) discounts on all goods and services purchased from One Fab Pooch.
5% discounts are the standard
A 15% discount is given on our furbabies’ birth month
That is reasonable enough for me. Note: VIPooch number is hidden but it is right there in the lower left-hand corner.
Before, Princess already looked beautiful. After, even more so. <3<3<3 We are trying to grow her hair out.
One satisfied customer
One satisfied customer
I am definitely one satisfied customer. If Princess is happy then I am happy, too. If I had to guess, part of the reason she liked it there is the air conditioning. The reception area, for one, was cool and comfortable. Another was the place didn’t smell of anything. Most other pet groomers I have gone to have an antiseptic smell that Princess just hates.
And as we were leaving Monica says, “bye Ma’am, bye Princess, have a fabulous day!”
Satisfaction rating? 5 stars!!!
If I had one suggestion to make … maybe they should have a coffee shop right beside them exclusively for furparents (with power outlets and wifi) so that furparents can wait in comfort nearby and work (or not!) at the same time.
Next month, same time, same place. 🙂

All dogs go to heaven, that is what they say. I certainly hope it is true because the thought of our little ones not being in heaven right now would break my heart.
Mary
But I guess that correct term is “break my heart even more”. On May 30, 3 days after birth, Little Mary passed away. She waited for me to get home, allowed me to give her vitamins and a little milk, cuddled in my hand and a few minutes later, breathed her last breath.
I cried buckets. My chest hurt so much it physically felt like my heart was breaking in two. Tears rolled down my cheeks and wouldn’t stop. I couldn’t breathe. I couldn’t help but think that there must have been something I missed, something I failed to do that cause her to die.
I was in denial. I kept hoping that there was actually a way to revive her. I even put her in a towel and held her against my chest as I brought her to the vet all the while massaging her chest, hoping to stimulate a pulse. But when I got there Doc Allan took her from me, checked her for himself. He tried to massage her chest, check for a heartbeat, etc. He then looked at me with a sad face and said there was nothing we could do.
You see, he had seen the pups at 8am that same morning and noticed how much smaller and thinner Mary was than the other pups and he told us that we had to forcefeed about 1 ml. of milk 30 minutes to support her. It was all for naught. We tried our best but she just wasn’t strong enough.
Ylli
After Mary passed away there was one more tiny one left and we called her Ylli. She was a little stronger than Mary and because of what happened with Mary we were extra vigilant with Ylli. We took turns feeding and cuddling her. We made sure she had first dibs on Princess’ milk before letting her sibs anywhere near, just to be sure she does not starve.
At night when it gets cold she slept with me and yesterday morning she opened her eyes for the first time and (I hope) was able to see me. I was so happy! I thought, yes! This one will make it! In my mind I was even thinking “this pup we will keep”. An hour or two later her sibs also opened their eyes.
Ylli grew a little bit and was no longer skin and bones but she was still only 1/3 the size of her sibs. Doc warned me that it was possible that like the first one, she could also have a weak heart and that if she survived she would never be as strong as her siblings.
Now I am left with 3, three precious darlings – more precious to me now than they were before. These three are strong and healthy but I still can’t help but worry.
And though I truly believe that all dogs go to heaven I don’t want them to go there too soon.
Lord, allow them to live long, happy, and healthy lives here on earth. Give them the opportunity to be loved not just by me but also by the families that will adopt them.
I’ve seen Mamypoko Diapers in the grocery for some time but I’ve always ignored it in favor of the more popular brands or the less expensive brands. Like most consumers I often choose products based on price and reputation.
When Star was a baby it wasn’t that big a deal, but as she got older like most toddlers she started to become precocious and naughty. Whenever possible she would peel off the tape of her diapers and take it off laughing.
She also needed diapers less. For some time now the only time we would put a diaper on her is when she goes to bed (to sleep) and when we go out. This made us wonder why she kept trying to take her diaper off (considering she didn’t wear them so often anymore) and we realized it was because it was causing a diaper rash which was either itchy or painful. Poor baby!
For some time we stopped putting her in diapers but it was difficult to manage, especially at night when she would wet her bed in her sleep. So, despite our better judgement, we decided to try diapers again, if only for when she goes to bed.
So I went to the grocery and at a whim picked up a pack of Mamypoko Easy to Wear Pants.
I remember when my daughter was a baby they had something similar but they were called “pull-ups” because, I suppose, you just pulled them up like pants.
With Mamypoko Pants there was no tape to worry about. Just wear them like you would underpants and, voila! your baby is wearing a disposable diaper. However, figuring out which way was front was a challenge. To this day, I still have to hold them out and then pray that I don’t put it on her the wrong way.
Mamypoko Pants for Girls
During Lazada’s online revolution last year (2016) I discovered Mamypoko Pants for Girls. Because I purchased it from Lazada it was so much cheaper than buying it from the grocery and I didn’t have to leave the house to get it. Sure there is a little bit of a wait … I ordered in the morning and it arrived the day after. But it also meant that I didn’t have to brave the traffic and the long lines at the grocery.
If all things were equal and I had to choose between the regular Mamypoko Pants and Mamypoko Pants for Girls I would definitely get the latter … even if it is pink (which is my least favorite color, hyuk!) because, let’s face it … it was designed specifically for a little girl. 🙂
Why will we keep buying Mamypoko Pants for Girls?
Star displaying the back of her Mamypoko Pants for Girls
All the diaper commercials say mostly the same thing but this is the first time we’ve actually experienced using one that surpassed our expectations.
Eyecatching design
This batch of diapers came with a Winnie the Pooh design that our little Star just loves. What we like, too, is that the design does not bleed even when the diaper is full.
As the name suggests Mamypoko Pants for Girls is designed for girls which is why it comes in pink, making it easier to spot on the grocery shelves when stacked beside other brands.
Easy to use
Mamypoko Pants for Girls has a label that indicates front from back so there is no way (short of inattention) for us to put it on her backwards.
Mamypoko Pants for Girls are pull ups, not secured with tape on the sides, which means we just pull them up her legs like pants making them easy to put on and take off.
Taking them off like pants is important for us because Star is at that age where she is already potty trained so when she is awake she prefers to pee (and poop!) in the toilet rather than in her pants so, whenever possible, even if she is wearing her diaper, she asks to be brought to the toilet to pee. With Mamypoko Pants for Girls we can just pull them down like her undies then pull them back on again when she’s done.
sealing tape
What my daughter likes, though, is that the sides of the diaper can just be torn off along the seam when we want to dispose of the diaper when removing it. This is particularly important when the diaper has poop in it. We don’t want that mess touching Star’s legs on the way down, after all.
In addition, the diaper has a strip of clear tape with a tab that you peel off (except for the end) and then reattach to hold the diaper closed when you roll it up for disposal after use. It is very well attached so it won’t come off accidentally. And, the tab is designed in such a way that curious toddler fingers will not notice it immediately and pull on it. 😀
Hypoallergenic
Unlike one other brand we’ve tried, Mamypoko Pants for Girls does not cause an adverse reaction to Star’s skin.
Very absorbent
After several hours of wearing her diaper we were wondering why Star was not complaining yet about her diaper so we had to check. Her diaper was so full that the absorbency gel was already thick, bulky, and cold on the outside … and because we were worried about diaper rash we hurriedly removed the diaper to wash her. Imagine our surprise when we removed the diaper to find her and it completely dry.
The diaper was several times heavier (and thicker!) than it was at the beginning but when you touch the pad itself no moisture could be found. When we touched Star’s bottom, it was dry, too. Amazing!
Since this diaper was made especially for girls it meant that the diaper was designed to give the most absorbancy where it was needed most. We loved it so much that we posted a review on the product on its product page.
Conclusion
So if you have a little girl like we do you may want to try out Mamypoko Pants for Girls. It is one of the best purchases I made for Star, and I am sure you would feel the same once you try it, too. 🙂
