Transforming to a Better You

Transforming to a Better You

A healthy transformation starts with the urge to change according to fitness experts.

changing obesityOn February 29, 2020,ย Novuhair,ย Novo Nordisk, theย Embassy of Denmark, and theย Philippine Association for the Study of Overweight and Obesityย hosted a 4K walk/jog/run and dance marathon rally at the BGC Amphitheater in an effort to make people aware of obesity as a serious issue.

Fitness Coaches Jim and Toni Saret of FitFil joined the participants in the walk/jog/run and encouraged participants to keep going.ย  They also joined other fitness instructors onstage and encouraged everyone to participate in the dance marathon.

Attendees were treated to raffle prizes and giveaways plus a morning of lectures from top doctors, Free BMI screening, Medical check-up, and complimentary hair & scalp analysis.

Other booths that were present included Healthway, Celebrity Fitness, Hearty Bread, and Novuhair, natureโ€™s answer to hair loss, to complete your wellness knowledge.

Most participants opted to walk the 4k

The day started at 5:30 am where participants gathered at the BGC Amphitheater for the opening ceremonies quickly followed by the 4K walk/jog/run which followed a double loop around a few blocks of BGC High Street.

Most of the participants opted to walk the 4 kilometers while a few jogged or ran or, in my case, did a brisk walkย (with a jig, bop, or two and possibly break out into song as I was listening to music while I was walking, hehehe).ย  The 4k terminates back at the amphitheater where the fitness instructors are waiting onstage to lead the crowd in the dance marathon.

Since I joined the 4k towards the end of the group, by the time I got to the end the dance marathon had already started.ย  Many of the early participants were also groovinโ€™ away and moving to the beat while those who arrived late opted to go and enjoy the free taho being served at the side.

The event reiterates the importance of being fit and healthy in fighting obesity which is steadily becoming a global problem. #changingobesity #believeinyourself

In commemoration of the Bataan Death March

The Philippine Veterans Bank (PVB) kicks off the 76th anniversary of the Bataan Death March commemoration with the Mariveles-San Fernando-Capas Freedom Trail (Freedom Trail) event on March 24 to 25, 2018.

The two-day, three provinces wide event, which aims to instill the values of Bravery, Sacrifice and Love for Country, will be highlighted by a retracing of the actual Death March 160km route by AFP Reservists and Personnel, 160KM Run Relay, Motorbike Tour, March, Float Parade, and Poster-Making contest awarding.

WWII Veterans

World War 2 veterans Florentino Platero, 88yo from Orani, Bataan and Caesar Aguirre 90yo from Pilar l, Bataan. Both their fathers were killed by the Japanese during World War 2.

Veterans Bankโ€™s Freedom Trail likewise honors Filipino World War II heroes and survivors by involving the public in this solemn remembrance of heroism.

Organizers have prepared different categories to accommodate civilian, military and police units by running, walking or riding in two wheels while retracing the steps of our fallen heroes during the Bataan Death March.

โ€œIt is our generationโ€™s responsibility to commemorate and honor the bravery and heroism of our veterans during the war. It will be a sin to forget how valiantly they fought and how they looked out for their fellow soldiers amid torture, injury, and starvation. History will hold us accountable if the next generations forget the Bataan Death March,โ€ said Mike Villareal, Head of Veterans Bankโ€™s Corporate and Consumer Relations Division.

The prisoners were loaded onto trains in San Fernando, Pampanga.
