Monette Quiogue, the co-founder of Ambidextr and Bookshelf PH, participated in a discussion at the Little Theater, UP Visayas in Iloilo City on April 27, 2024. The event was part of the BSBA Marketing students’ annual conference — ADCON 2024, with the theme “LikhAdvertising: Behind the Artistic Scenes of Creative Marketing.” In its 24th year, the conference focused on the synergy between art, culture, and effective campaigns. Ms. Quiogue’s topic, “LikhaRatura: The Transformative Art of Narrative Marketing,” explored the idea that writing a book not only establishes one as a thought leader but also expands one’s grasp of marketing strategies through avenues such as book marketing, content marketing, and partnerships.

The event was led by Prof. Maria Theresa C. Albaña and organized by the 4th-year BSBA Marketing students from the University of the Philippines Visayas. Speakers were invited to discuss various aspects of creative marketing. The first speaker, Director Frances Anthea Redison, discussed the topic “GlobaLikha: A Deep Dive into Culturally-Sensitive Marketing,” highlighting the importance of being aware of gender and culture when collaborating with different communities.

After the discussion, Ms. Monette Quiogue presented her topic, “LikhaRatura: The Transformative Art of Narrative Marketing.” During her presentation, she addressed important questions such as why one should write a book, how to start the writing process, what message to convey, when to begin the endeavor, and where to sell the finished book. Ms. Quiogue also emphasized the importance of reading for personal and professional growth, highlighting the need to write books for individuals aiming for this kind of growth. She mentioned that writing a book establishes oneself as a thought leader, allowing one to establish authority, reach diverse audiences, educate markets, develop strategic partnerships, and generate leads and sales, all of which are beneficial in the business field.

This makes it a valuable resource for authors looking for support in their publishing journey. Bookshelf PH not only provides publishing services but also acts as a cultural ambassador, amplifying the stories of Filipino authors globally. This highlights the power of thought leadership and storytelling in marketing efforts.

The first day of ADCON 2024 concluded with a workshop by Ms. Eulah Araullo, the Creative Lead for Content Partnership at Canva. Her workshop, titled “MaLikHain Workshop,” focused on creative approaches and techniques in marketing, wrapping up the insightful sharing from the speakers.
