Like many of my peers I laughed, anticipated the endings and shed many a tear as I watched these commercials of Jollibee for this season of hearts 2017.
Kuwentong Jollibee Valentine Series: The Vow
From the moment the scene opened I already had my suspicions about how it would end but the romantic in me denied it and watched with bated breath just to see exactly how it would end. For those who haven’t seen it I don’t want to spoil it for you so watch the video below first.

FRIEND-ZONED! Ouch! But what a lovely statement they placed at the end …
Para sa mga patuloy na nagmamahal nang walang hinintay na kapalit.
Translation: For those who love unconditionally …
Sniff!
Kuwentong Jollibee Valentine Series: The Crush
This one was 95% silent film and the story was cute, light … it was the story of beauty and the geek. And the ending was … sigh, wonderful! My heart just soared.

They say it is now the age of the geek. Nowadays being a geek is cool, yes! They close the video with this line …
Para sa mga hindi nag-give up sa pag-ibig.
Translation: For those who did not give up on love.
This commercial made me feel warm and fuzzy all over. 😀

Kuwentong Jollibee Valentine Series: Date
This one … I tell you, this one, I was already starting to cry from the get go. I just knew it had to be something tragic. Sniff!

My throat clenched. My heart twisted in my chest. I couldn’t breathe, I couldn’t see. My tears were not just welling in my eyes, they were sliding down my cheeks non-stop. No other commercial ever (that I can recall) has ever affected me so strongly as this.
And to end the scene with this …
Para sa pagmamahalang walang katapusan.
Translation: For love that never ends.
As a parent I marvel at the boy’s inner strength. What he did would be hard for anyone to do without breaking out into tears. I still have both my parents but just the thought of losing even one fills my heart with sadness.

And after a series of emotional ups and downs my sisters and I turn to each other and we wondered who the ad agency of Jollibee is. Whoever they are, they just got themselves some awards right there.
The Kuwentong Jollibee Valentine series reminds us that not all love is romantic love. Thank you, Jollibee, for reminding us that love is not just for lovers.
To love and be loved is the greatest thing in the world.
3 words 8 letters … don’t be afraid to say them to the ones you love …

Philippine Veterans Bank Lauds WWII Heroes, Sets Bataan Freedom Run on Bataan Death March Trail
In time for the 75th Year Anniversary of the Bataan Death March, the Philippine Veterans Bank, together with its partners, once again revisits history by organizing a couple of events to be held in honor of the country’s World War II heroes – the 4th installment of the marathon Bataan Freedom Run, and a new event for running and biking enthusiasts dubbed the Mariveles-San Fernando-Capas Freedom Trail.
Bataan Freedom Run on April 2
Slated on April 2, the Bataan Freedom Run will feature a 42-kilometer full marathon, a 21-kilometer half-marathon as well as 10-kilometers, 5-kilometers, and 1-kilometer courses for running aficionados, kids, and pets. As in previous years, the BFR follows the route of the Bataan Death March and will start at Kilometer Zero in Mariveles, Bataan.

This event is for bikers and runners. The Freedom Trail will feature a punishing 160-kilometer run with individual and team relay categories for marathoners as well as similar-distanced bike run. The new event will be held from April 10 – 11 and will cover the Death March route from Mariveles, Bataan to Capas, Tarlac.

Roberto F. de Ocampo – President, Philippine Veterans Bank
“Once again, Philippine Veterans Bank, together with our partners, is putting a segment of our nation’s history into the forefront of our national consciousness with the Bataan Freedom Run and the Freedom Trail,” said PVB Chairman Dr. Roberto F. de Ocampo, OBE.
“These events are not only challenging physically but also mentally to the runners and bikers but they are doing this to honor the World War II veterans who endured and made the ultimate sacrifice during the Death March seventy-five years ago.”
The 75th Anniversary of the Bataan Death March will be celebrated worldwide and the twin events are PVB’s contribution to the worldwide remembrance of this infamous chapter in WWII history.
Since 2014, the Philippine Veterans Bank, its partners, and the Provincial Government of Bataan as well as the Philippine Veterans Affairs Office (PVAO) have held the Bataan Freedom Run in honor of WWII veterans who endured the death march in 1942. With the new Freedom Trail event this year, organizers expect to bring together an estimated 5,000 participants apart from local spectators, mostly from Bataan, Pampanga and Tarlac, and in Manila, as well as descendants of the Death March survivors here and abroad.
The Bataan Freedom Run, organized by Without Limits, is presented by the Philippine Veterans Bank (PVB) in partnership with the Philippine Veterans Affairs Office (PVAO), Provincial Government of Bataan, Freeport Area of Bataan Investor Locator Association (FABILA), History Channel Asia, ANC News Channel, and WhenInManila.Com. Proceeds from the Bataan Freedom Run will be used for the maintenance of Death March markers located in Bataan province.
On the other hand, the Mariveles-San Fernando-Capas Freedom Trail, also presented by PVB and organized by Without Limits, is also in partnership with PVAO, Capas Freedom March, Automobile Association Philippines (AAP Travel), and the local governments of Mariveles, Bataan; San Fernando, Pampanga; and Capas, Tarlac.

As a seasoned blogger I often find the urge to “clean house”. What this means, in essense, is I go over my old blogposts and see what I could improve the SEO on, what needs more pictures, what needs to be hidden because I found (in hindsight) that I did not like what or how I wrote.
Well, in addition to that I also had to go through losing my entire website early last year in a blink with no warning and no backup, not even with my hosting provider. Talk about frutrating!
At present I have about 52 pages of posts and only 7 of those are the ones that I feel are ok to display at present. The remaining pages need to be reviewed as most of them have a lot of missing content. Thankfully there is this thing called the WAYBACK MACHINE that was able to archive my site a few times so I will be able to slowly recover my site. They only started to do so in 2012 so I’m keeping my fingers crossed that my posts from the 90s were part of the 2012 archive. That was a LOT of memories lost!
In the meantime, I am putting all posts from page 8 onwards in drafts mode. I will try to remember to prevent my wordpress app from sharing on social network each and every single old post. But in the event that it does happen, at least you know it is because I am cleaning house. 😀
I used to be on Windows so I guess I have to clean those, too. 😛 Cleaning house is tedious but could be fun … especially if you encounter some fun memories along the way. 😀
