The first ever STYLECON, held last September 10 where bloggers, influencers, and industry insiders were treated to informative and inspiring talks.

Lazada Stylecon Panelists: Sassa Jimenez, Patty Ang, Kelsey Merritt, Bea Constantino, and Angela Yeo
The event brought together today’s brightest young names in the different fields of style, such as makeup, couture, styling, and modeling. Talks revolved around style and beauty in the age of social media and digital shopping.
Quotes for Stylecon panelists
Bea Constantino
Bea Constantino, one of the most celebrated fashion stylists in the country, shares how sometimes the most unexpected things turn out for the best, “Fashion was never my thing when I was young. But through the years, I fell in love with it. Inspiration comes from all over – from people to places and experiences. Surviving this industry is all about respecting those who came before you, learning relentlessly and finding your best self in the process.”
Patty Ang
Seeing fashion accessories as an investment was also a highlight in the discussion. Patty Ang,designer for Andi Eigenmann’s Cannes scene-stealer dress, said; “Invest in good jewelry. It’s a great investment because it stands the test of time. You can even pass it on to your children. Quality pieces, be it jewelry or leather bags, are great ways to add a sense of class to your wardrobe without feeling the need to update constantly.”
Sassa Jimenez
As for online shopping? Haute Couture designer Sassa Jimenez gave the most practical tip: “Online shopping is great because you don’t have to decide (and spend) on the spot if you want to purchase an item. In fact, you can make a wish list when shopping online. Add the items in your cart. Sleep on it. Come back the following day and assess if you still want to push through with the purchase.”
An interesting topic during the discussion was the effect of social media on fashion trends and individual style. Most of the audience, comprised of bloggers and online influencers, realized that even the experts in individual fields were always on the lookout for inspiration from other people. In a truly social world, we inspire each other with our own unique style.
Kelsey Merritt
Nowadays social media is an avenue for people to express their passion for fashion through images, and maybe even live their passions as well. “I have to thank the internet because social media gave me my big break as a model,” was Kelsey Merritt’s sentiment on how her fame sky-rocketed due to Instagram. From her stylish clothes to gorgeous make-up, Kelsey’s Instagram account garnered enough traction that an NYC-based agency signed her as one of their models.
Angelo Yeo
The roundtable discussion was followed by a makeup tutorial sponsored by L’Oréal. Angela Yeo,celebrity make-up artist and owner of beautylista.com, showed the audience how to achieve an easy “office chic” look – an everyday dilemma faced by majority of working women. The tutorial was broadcasted through Facebook LIVE via Lazada’s account. As a vlogger, Angela stressed the importance of product reviews when shopping online.
The most important learning from STYLECON was best summed up by Bea Constantino, “Find your passion, always update yourself, and build your brand.”
With more and more people passionate about fashion, Lazada has continually increased inventory with a wide assortment of fashion and health & beauty products. Lazada believes in empowering people to find their passion from the comfort of their homes, be it in fashion, photography, make-up, or the arts. The Satchmi Store was packed to the brim for their 1st birthday. A celebration of Satchmi’s love for records, music, and the lifestyle they cultivate together with their community of friends and loyal customers.
It’s no surprise when we saw people pouring in from all directions to the store. When you step in, it’s as if you’re in another world separated from the mall itself. There was free food courtesy of Mr. Graham’s Sandwich Shop, their highly talked about Cebuano along with chips and dip filled everyone’s appetite throughout the event. In tandem were Mrs. Graham’s macarons straight from her cafe, specially made for the event complete with vinyl record designs and plating. Their Apple Pie Soda was also served during the party as well as Craftpoint’s Summer Sessions. All free aside from Satchmi’s esteemed third-wave coffee.
People got to experience fun and games throughout the event like spin the wheel with prizes from Satchmi’s lifestyle brands — Happy Socks, Lost Nomad, Gouache Bags, The Green House Project, Sunday Paper Co and more, there was also a sleeve face Photo Booth contest, by the end of the night the most creative photo got to take home a Motorino Mk II. A Satchmi event wouldn’t be complete without performances from their favorite artists BP Valenzuela, Reese & Vica, CRWN, and up-and-coming Coeli. Chip Balbuena — a comedian from Comedy Cartel’s line up was also there to provide some laughs for the night.
The main event was when Satchmi released a video showcasing what was next for them this year. Some of the things announced were that they are opening a 2nd branch in Quezon City (exact location still top secret) in early 2016, the Motorino Mk II now comes in the new color Silver bidding goodbye to the Ivory model, a new Satchmi Blend of beans exclusive from EDSA Beverage Design Studio coming soon to the store and most importantly, a new vinyl compilation that is composed of some of their favorite performers from Vinyl Day 2013 to 2015. Some of the artists include Autotelic, Oh, Flamingo!, BP x CRWN collab, Tandems ’91, She’s Only Sixteen, Reese & Vica, Imago, Taken by Cars, and more! A total of 12 tracks for a vinyl produced and manufactured entirely by Satchmi. The vinyl, entitled “General Assembly” (and rightly so) will be released sometime in 2016.
“It definitely is hard to believe how far we’ve come,” says Edric Chua, co-founder of Satchmi. “When we started out with just a couple of records and an online store, we always used to talk about opening a brick and mortar store until eventually the opportunity presented itself to us and we took it,” he adds. “From an online store to an actual physical store, and now we are not only distributors but producers and manufacturers of actual vinyl records — for a couple of vinyl enthusiasts, it’s amazing to see how far we’ve come,” says Aislinn Chuahiock, another co-founder of Satchmi. When asked what their secret was into getting this far, Ronald Sy – Managing Director and co-founder of Satchmi simply said “It was really a collaborative effort. Both within the team and with everyone we’ve ever worked with. Our loyal customers and everyone who has ever supported us also helped materialize what we’ve been planning for how many years.”
Vinyl records have been around for a while now and although the emergence of technology and digital music has proven to lessen physical music sales, the fact that vinyl is slowly growing and emerging to be the ultimate and most genuine medium shows that a love for the good old days will never go away. Satchmi has been the frontrunner in making vinyl records accessible to everyone and as proven today, they are here to stay and we couldn’t be any happier.
Satchmi is a music and lifestyle brand with a love for vinyl records, worldly goods, and everything in between. Visit their online store at www.satchmi.com or their physical store at the 4F Mega Fashion Hall, SM Megamall.

It’s been a year since the Satchmi Store opened its doors and they’re celebrating it the best way they know how: the ultimate birthday party happening! I’m so excited for September 26, but while we wait, here are a couple of things we hear you can expect at Satchmi’s Birthday Bash:
Free-flowing drinks

The Satchmi Store as most people know is not just your ordinary record store. They also have a coffee bar situated right in the middle. Their third wave coffee has been praised and raved on by many, getting their beans straight from the local supplier – EDSA Beverage Design Group. This time though, not only will we get free-flowing coffee for the night, but free-flowing craft beer from their friends over at CraftPoint Brewery! Coffee + Beer = the perfect way to cap off the night
Party giveaways and prizes
Those who attend the party, get a chance to win Satchmi’s Motorino Mk II – Customized Limited Edition. A staple in almost all of Satchmi’s events. Not only that, but they’ve also added in more giveaways from their favorite curated local brands like Sunday Paper Co, The Lost Nomad, Gouache Bags, Leather Fellow, The Green House Project, and more!
Record sales
We also hear that there might be a sale on their records (plus a special announcement about the Motorino Mk II we are absolutely dying to know!)
Lots of music and laughs

The Satchmi Store has been known for hosting intimate and fun events for music and the performing arts. You can expect some of their staples on stage: Reese & Vica, BP Valenzuela, CRWN, and up-and-coming artist Coeli (all we can say is you have to see her to experience her music). Adding to the birthday fun, Satchmi will also be getting Comedy Cartel’s Chip Balbuena – JackTV’s Kamikaze Best Comedy Act Competition winner & Laugh and Stack Standup Comedy Competition Champion to end the night right.
Secrets and plans revealed
We also hear that there’s going to be a special part of the program where Satchmi will be disclosed to everyone there what their plans are for next year. It’s kind of ironic how this time the birthday celebrant will be doing the surprising and we just gotta know what it is! They’ve been dropping a few hints here and there but I guess we’ll have to wait for the actual event to find out what Satchmi is planning for 2016.
Until then, we are inviting everyone to go to one of the most exciting birthday parties this year. Advanced Happy Birthday to the Satchmi Store and see you on September 26, 7 PM!
To RSVP go to tinyurl.com/happybirthdaySatchmi
The Satchmi Store is located at the 4F, Mega Fashion Hall, SM Megamall

Like me you may have watched the pyrotechnic displays that occur every year along the bay at least once in the last few years. I bet you were awed at the intricacies of the fireworks whilst standing elbow to elbow with complete strangers, perhaps on a grassy patch of land at the Mall of Asia grounds. Didn’t you ever wish you could watch it from a comfortable seat while sipping a glass of your favorite cocktail or glass of rum with your arm around someone special?
For one magical night, live the life of a billionaire and watch the pyromusical competition aboard a luxurious yacht on the bay! Free-flowing booze and hors d’oeuvres guaranteed, all for a very reasonable price.
They’re taking early reservations ’cause it is first come, first served. Contact Jean Kim (+639229901231) or Nikolai Lacson (+639062138461) for reservations.
