PCPPI reminds Filipinos to hydrate for their health

This World Health Day, Pepsi-Cola Products Philippines Inc. (PCPPI) – the exclusive manufacturer of PepsiCo beverages in the country – reiterates the value of hydration this summer season.

  • Drinking enough water and other essential fluids has the following health benefits:
  • Regulates body temperature
  • Delivers nutrients to cells
  • Prevents infections
  • Allows organs to function properly
  • Improves our mood, cognition, and sleep quality

exercise

Medical experts encourage 15 to 20-minute daily exercises to boost our immune system, but excessive sweating may cause dehydration and mineral deficiency.  More than water, sports drinks can replace the minerals lost during exercise. One of these is Gatorade, a drink that contains electrolytes to help maintain the body’s ionic balance.

According to the medical website familydoctor.org“Sports drinks can be helpful if you plan on exercising at higher levels for more than an hour. These drinks contain carbohydrates and electrolytes that can increase your energy.”

PCPPI also produces Gatorade ION, formulated for everyday hydration with ions, low sodium, no preservatives, and no artificial flavors and colors.

“Whether you are playing sports, walking under the sun, or even working from home, the body needs a little boost from hydration drinks. PCPPI has products that will help you stay hydrated, whatever your lifestyle is,” said PCPPI President and Chief Executive Officer Frederick D. Ong.

PCPPI further highlighted the importance of hydration given the threats of COVID-19 and what it can do to our bodies.

According to the American Society of Parenteral and Enteral Nutrition (ASPEN)“hydration and nutrition play an important role in our body’s response to and recovery from COVID 19 and is an important part of your medical treatment”.  ASPEN stated that drinking “supports the body’s ability to fight the virus and support the body’s immune function”.

“As a company that manufactures beverages, we need to keep our consumers hydrated, especially if they are fighting against any disease, maintaining their body’s full function,” added Ong.

PPCPI manufactures and sells well-known PepsiCo beverages brands such as Pepsi-Cola, Mountain Dew, Gatorade, 7-Up, Mirinda, Mug, Aquafina, Premier, Sting, Tropicana, and Lipton

Coffee That’s Really Good For You. Glorious, Isn’t It?

Coffee That’s Really Good For You. Glorious, Isn’t It?

Coffee has received a bad reputation for many decades.  Aside from allegedly triggering high blood pressure, insomnia, and hyperacidity, the Filipino habit of adding lots of sugar and cream to one’s cup has been said to aggravate diabetes.

While there is no denying the Pinoy coffee fan his morning cup, there is concern over the amount of sugar present in commercial 3-in-1 coffee mixes. The leading brand has 14.6 grams of sugar in one 20-gram sachet alone. Imagine how much sugar you’re taking in if you drink an average of three cups of coffee a day.

What About Sugar-Free Coffee?

For health-conscious individuals, especially diabetics, turning to sugar-free coffee mixes seems to be the only option. This meant enduring tasteless cups of coffee just to satisfy their caffeine fix — until Stevia came along.

Stevia is a low-calorie, zero-sugar sweetener that tastes so much better than artificial sweeteners.  Stevia is an herb with a sweet-tasting extract that comes from the leaves of the “Stevia rebaudiana” plant. It has been enjoyed since pre-Columbian South America where indigenous people used the herb to sweeten their tea and other drinks.

The plant’s taste stems from steviol glycosides, molecules that are 250–300 times sweeter than regular sugar.  It is an alternative sweetener that can be used on other things besides beverages, but also in cooking and baking.  It became popular among health-conscious individuals because stevia has a very low caloric content. This makes it perfect for dieters and people who are trying to lose weight.  Moreover, Stevia makes coffee and tea taste so much better without adding any calories.

The Health Advantages of Stevia

Stevia is a safe, healthy sugar substitute that can sweeten up food without the negative health effects of refined sugar. It’s also associated with several impressive benefits such as reduced calorie intake, managed blood sugar levels, and minimized risk of cavities.

Additionally, while other sugar substitutes like Aspartame have been linked with cancer, there’s no evidence linking stevia to cancer since it is a natural ingredient.  This means you can add stevia to dishes and drinks without fear that you’re taking too much sugar, or that you’ll get sick a few years down the road.

For coffee lovers, it’s also good to note that locally-made Glorious Blend coffees and instant beverages have Stevia as its natural sweetener. The blend of natural and healthful ingredients makes the drink refreshing and safe and good for one’s overall health.

The Glorious Blend boasts a full line of healthy drinks, including a 7-in-1 healthy coffee mix. This special blend is made with proven medicinal ingredients like Malunggay, Mangosteen, Calcium, Gotu Kola, and sweetened with Sweet & Fit Stevia. What’s even better is that the Glorious Blend 7in1 Coffee is non-acidic and promotes regular bowel movement.

The Glorious line-up also includes the 3-in-1 coffee mix with Stevia, 7-in-1 choco mix, 4-in-1 coffee with Malunggay, 5-in-1 coffee mix with Brown Rice, and the MaxiTrim coffee.

All Glorious Blend beverages use Stevia which has no calories, no carbohydrates, and zero glycemic indexes. All of their instant drinks will keep you alert and energized throughout the day.  In addition, Glorious Blend products are locally sourced and manufactured. Their company supports local farmers, stevia growers, and other agricultural communities.

So if you’ve been cutting back on drinking coffee because of health problems like diabetes or hyperacidity, Glorious Blend coffee mixes are here to help. You can enjoy all the aroma and flavor of freshly made coffee all day — without the guilt!

Now, you can drink coffee for better health! Glorious, isn’t it? For more information about Glorious Blend coffee mixes, check out https://www.facebook.com/gloriousblend.

Women Make it Happen in Airspeed

There is no better time than National Women’s Month to highlight the ever-increasing role of women in shaping Philippine society in general and the business world in particular.

In the Philippines’ male-dominated corporate world, a woman named Rosemarie P. Rafael has been breaking stereotypes and challenging the big boys since the 1980s. In 1985, Mrs. Rafael founded Airspeed, one of the leading logistics solutions and express courier companies in the country. Airspeed is a company that reflects Ms. Rafael’s values and beliefs as a woman, a mother, and a leader. Being Airspeed’s Chairman and President and a true advocate of women, Ms. Rafael chose to empower women at Airspeed because she believes women are naturally nurturing.  She knows that when people are supported and enabled, they can do great and impossible things.

These three women executives of Airspeed – together with the management team, envisioned to help propel the company to greater heights and, in the process, make the company better and reach success.

Anna Lyn Discaya is the new Chief Administrative Officer under Airspeed Group of Companies Holding Corp. In her new role, Ann will be in charge of managing and overseeing the company’s Administrative Group which comprises the Human Resources Team, Procurement Team, Security Group, Legal and Compliance Team, and Administrative Maintenance.

Claudette ‘Claude’ Lucasan-Canta is the new Chief Supply Chain Officer and will oversee the supply chain solutions design, warehouse operational processes, distribution, procedures, and work process flow of all companies under the holdings group. She is tasked to align with different business unit heads on the requirements of prospects and accounts, as well as the review of onboarding processes of each account. Claude will also help define the goals and programs for each of the business’s operation units and review financial projections per cost module for new and existing businesses.

Liza Fallar-Marquez, the Chief Information Technology Officer, leads the Management Information System Department. Liza has been with Airspeed for 23 years and has made sure to establish and direct strategic long-term goals, policies, and procedures for their information technology department.
