LG: Artificial intelligence will run more homes in 2018

LG: Artificial intelligence will run more homes in 2018

Artificial Intelligence (AI) has long been a hotly debated topic, with some pundits claiming that it poses a grave threat to humanity while others believe that AI systems can help humans improve productivity and conditions around them. For technology company LG Electronics (LG), AI is being harnessed to achieve the latter.

The recently concluded Consumer Electronics Show (CES) 2018 in Las Vegas saw a smorgasbord of personal computing wearables, smartphones and home appliances. And LG, through its Open Partnership, Open Platform and Open Connectivity strategy, is an emerging leader in this exciting field.

The brand also showcased a diverse lineup of smart products that shows the world that LG is working to move technology forward while improving daily life for consumers worldwide in 2018 and beyond.

LG’s extensive portfolio of smart appliances comes with Google assistant capabilities. As of this writing, there are nearly 90 LG smart appliances that seek to deliver a simple yet future-ready connected smart home experience.

Some of the price competitive Wi-Fi connected home appliances in LG’s roster include: washing machines and dryers, refrigerators, ovens, dishwashers, vacuums and air purifiers, among others. With these appliances in the home, domestic life becomes an interactive and intuitive experience.

The beauty of the smart home lies in the hands-free operation of these appliances with the help of Google Assistant. Homeowners can now use simple voice commands on their phones to check the time remaining during wash cycles, for example, or turn off their range after cooking.

Running a household with this technology is made simpler and more convenient for the on-the-go lifestyles of today. Setup is user-friendly and convenient with the free LG SmartThinQ app, which allows users to control the entire lineup of LG smart appliances.

While not all smart appliances will be available yet in the Philippines, there are those that already made its way to a number of Filipino homes, such as the LG InstaView Door-in-DoorTM (DID).

This smart refrigerator model allows users easy access to favorite food items by simply knocking on the mirrored glass panel twice. This innovation reduces cold air loss by up to 41%, making food stored in the refrigerator stay fresh longer.

LG InstaView DID is also equipped with LG SmartThinQ. This allows users to set the refrigerator temperature, control HygieneFRESH+ and diagnose the refrigerator with a simple tap on the user’s smartphone.

But with further AI developments in the horizon, LG’s smart home appliances will be better equipped to predict the user’s needs. Its adaptive technology interprets usage habits and data to the point that LG smart appliances will know when to alert owners to order filter refills for the refrigerator or air purifier, as well as troubleshoot lint build-up in the dryer.

With these innovations, the future of artificial intelligence and smart homes indeed looks bright.

The many ways LG innovates IoT to future-proof your home

The many ways LG innovates IoT to future-proof your home

The Internet of Things (IoT) has gone beyond being a buzzword and established a new world order wherein technology works to make people’s lives easier and more manageable.

Suddenly, all the contraptions that we saw in the animated series “The Jetsons” do not seem that far from reality.

When you think of IoT, you may think of wearables that track how much exercise and sleep you get or watches that allow you to send text messages.  Then, of course, there are the many, many things you can now take control with the use of your smartphone.

LG’s SmartThinQ is user-centric.  It helps consumers better manage their lives through intuitive technology that fills the need for more convenient and more efficient home care.

SmartThinQ allows you to control the temperature settings of your LG InstaView Door-in-Door Refrigerator even when you’re not at home.  That means you can decrease energy usage when you don’t have too many items in there and you can even turn on the Express Freeze function so that you have enough ice cubes when you get home for entertaining guests.

Smart Diagnosis helps troubleshoot simple problems with your refrigerator, even suggesting ways you can conserve energy based on your usage history.

On the LG TWINWash, SmartThinQ lets your phone function as a smart remote control so you can start your laundry even when you’re already far from home. You can also monitor how your load is coming along and push alerts are sent to your phone when the cycle is complete or an error occurs in the machine.

Smart Diagnosis also allows you to fix minor problems without having to call the service center.  Taking the guesswork out of doing the laundry, the Energy Monitoring feature provides helpful data and LG’s HomeChat™ service allows you to check the status of the washing machine using everyday natural language.

More Innovative Ways on the LG InstaView Door-in-Door Refrigerator

LG Instaview Door in Door Refrigerator

The LG InstaView Door-in-Door Refrigerator only requires you to knock twice and the sleek mirrored glass panel will illuminate, revealing the contents of the easy access compartment.

That means you don’t have to keep opening the refrigerator door and peeking inside — that equates to energy savings and up to 41% less cold air loss, keeping your food and drinks fresher for a longer period of time.

Meanwhile, the Moist Balance Crisper keeps the moisture level for your fresh produce at the optimal level.  That means crunchier vegetables and fruits. It also features the SpacePlus Ice System with an ice storage space that is 20% bigger than the conventional.  The Inverter Linear Compressor gives you 32% energy savings.

More Innovative Ways on theLG TWINWash

LG Twinwash

The LG TWINWash cuts down time you spend doing the laundry because you can do two separate loads at the same time: the bigger TWINWash for your regular load and the TWINWash Mini for delicates.

It also features LG’s unique TurboWash 2.0 technology: a nozzle inside the drum of the main washer sprays a concentrated solution of detergent directly onto the clothes and another high-pressure nozzle sprays tiny water particles through the clothes during high spin cycles for more effective rinsing.

Meanwhile, the revolutionary Inverter Direct Drive motor is attached directly to the drum. This improves wash efficiency and enhances the machine’s durability.

“We have greatly involved ourselves in the smart ecosystem with IoT Technology to deliver our promise of bringing a better life through innovation.” LG Philippines Home Appliance VP Wooyoung Jeon said.  “Through the SmartThinQ technology, LG has increased connectivity to help you take control of important, everyday tasks on your washing machine and refrigerator remotely–not only in terms of easy functions but also troubleshooting–all with a few taps on your smartphones”.

Behind “Innovation for a Better Life”: LG Empowers toward a good life

Behind “Innovation for a Better Life”: LG Empowers toward a good life

Modern city living has been moving at a more frenetic pace with the list of “things to do” increasing despite hours in the day remaining unchanged.  In order to balance work life and home life, we need more user-centric tools and appliances to help us save time, effort, and even money.

LG has continuously worked to innovate home appliances that are more responsive to the demands of modern everyday life.  To do this, various innovations on dependable hardware have become necessary.

LG InstaView Door-in-Door Refrigerator makes life better

LG Instaview refrigerator

The LG InstaView Door-in-Door Refrigerator asks you to knock twice in order to get a visual of the contents of its easy access compartment. So no more opening the refrigerator door over and over again to find out what drinks or food are inside.

LG InstaView1

Every time the door is opened, cold air escapes, and electricity is consumed. This innovation adds up to 41% less cold air loss, so your food and drinks stay fresher for longer, and you save on electricity costs.

Keeping fruits and vegetables fresh is important, and a refrigerator should be able to do this.  The Moist Balance Crisper keeps the moisture level at optimal levels, so you get juicy fruits and crisp vegetables every time.

Ice for hot summer days.  Ice for cold evening drinks.  The SpacePlus Ice System allocates 20% bigger ice storage space than the conventional refrigerator, so you can have more ice for all the different ways you want to keep cool in our tropical weather.

In terms of energy consumption, the Inverter Linear Compressor results in 32% energy savings for a 20-year life span.

SmartThinQ is a convenient way to control the functions of the LG InstaView Door-in-Door Refrigerator, even when you’re outside. You can adjust temperature settings, turn Express Freeze‘on’ and ‘off’, troubleshoot with the Smart Diagnosis. LG’s SmartThinQ is an intuitive innovation that helps you manage your home better.

The LG TWINWash makes life better

LG Twinwash Washing Machine

The LG TWINWash cuts down your laundry time by allowing you to do two separate loads with different settings at the same time: the main TWINWash is for your regular load and the TWINWash Mini is for delicates and special laundry.

LG TwinWash1

LG’s unique TurboWash 2.0 technology combines a jet spray in the main washer to target a concentrated solution of detergent directly onto the clothes and an atomizing rinse spray that releases tiny water particles through the clothes during high spin cycles for more effective rinsing. The revolutionary Inverter Direct Drive motor gives you powerful washing that is better than handwash.

SmartThinQ lets your phone function as a smart remote control so you can start your laundry even when you’re already far from home. You can also monitor how your load is coming along and have push alerts sent to your phone when the cycle is complete or an error occurs in the machine.

That means you can spend time running errands, doing other things — or relaxing, for that matter — as your laundry is being washed. Smart Diagnosis also allows you to fix minor problems without having to call the service center.

The Energy Monitoring function takes the guesswork out of doing the laundry feature provides helpful data and LG’s HomeChat™ service allows you to check the status of the washing machine using everyday natural language.

Life nowadays necessitates intuitive, convenient tools to make our lives more manageable. They should complement and not complicate our every day.  Through connectivity, LG’s SmartThinQ technology empowers homeowners towards a good life.

“We have greatly involved ourselves with IoT Technology to deliver our promise of bringing a better life through innovation.”  LG Philippines Home Appliance VP Wooyoung Jeon said.  “The LG InstaView Door-in-Door Refrigerator and LG TWINWash are just some examples of user-centric innovations that are making lives better.  We are on the way to making our homes future-proof.”
